“Our country, as well as the rest of the neighboring territories, is suffering the first effects of what are undoubtedly the consequences of planetary climate change. The decrease and irregularity of rain episodes, as well as poor control of the cycle of water, are complicating its management and jeopardizing the guarantee of supply in the short, medium and long term. Catalan marinas have a social responsibility to contribute to savings and efficiency in the management of this precious and scarce asset.” Communiqué of Ports of Catalonia.

From Port Marina Palamós, we remind you of the water consumption saving measures that we have sent to all port users.

First of all, we want to thank you for your willingness and collaboration in the application of these measures, which has led to a significant reduction in water consumption compared to previous years of up to 60%.

Now the summer season begins in which the use of the boats will be more intense and frequent and we want to remind you of the measures to follow regarding the use of water for cleaning boats, following the measures of the Generalitat Ports and the City Council of Palamos:

· It is prohibited to jet-clean boats at the moorings.
· The cleaning of boats in the moorings with bucket and mop is allowed.
· The cleaning of boats in the slipway with a pressurized water machine is allowed.
· It is allowed to use the water to fill the tank of the boat.

Despite the rains that have fallen in recent weeks, the drought situation persists so that as long as the hydrological alert situation continues, the Port Management will continue to ensure moderation in water consumption.

In the event that a significant increase in consumption is detected and without prejudice to possible new restrictions given by the competent authorities, adopting measures such as time restrictions or the total cut off of the water supply to the moorings is not ruled out.
