One more year, the scariest time of the calendar is knocking on our door. A night full of spooky activities awaits us, where fun will be guaranteed like never before.
But first, how about a little history? According to Oxford University, Halloween has its origins more than 3,000 years ago, when the Celts of Europe celebrated their new year, known as Samhain, on November 1. On the eve of this Gaelic harvest festival, what we now call Halloween, spirits were believed to walk the Earth on their way to the afterlife, accompanied by creatures such as fairies and demons. This ritual marked the farewell to Lugh, the Sun God, and welcomed the short, cold nights of autumn.
According to the American Folklife Center of the Library of Congress, in addition to sacrificing animals and gathering around bonfires, the Celts wore costumes – probably animal skins – to confuse spirits or avoid being possessed by them.
Over the centuries, this tradition has evolved, and each culture has given it its own approach. However, we still maintain the custom of dressing up and enjoying a frightening night in the company of friends and family.
Therefore, in Marina Palamós we want to invite you all to our square on October 31 from 5 pm, to enjoy workshops, activities, shows, inflatables and much more!
When night falls at Port Marina Palamós, nothing will ever be the same again!
